Excavation & Sitework
Site work you can
build on.
Clearing, grading, drainage, driveways, septic and pool fill-ins for homes and businesses around Lake Norman and north Charlotte, done with our own Bobcat E40.

Apex Renovations & Contracting provides excavation, grading, land clearing, building pads, French drains, trenching, gravel driveways and stump removal for homes and businesses in Cornelius, Huntersville, Davidson, Mooresville, Charlotte, Denver and Troutman, NC, using its own equipment. Estimates are free.
Excavation & grading
Apex runs its own Bobcat E40 compact excavator. Excavation and grading shape the land so it's stable, level where it needs to be and sloped so water runs away from structures. Apex handles cut-and-fill, rough and final grading, and earthmoving for new construction, additions, outbuildings and landscape improvements.

Earthmoving
Digging, hauling and moving soil with Apex-owned equipment.
Rough & final grading
Getting elevations right before and after construction.
Building pads
Level, compacted pads for homes, garages, shops and containers.
Site preparation
Getting a lot ready for builders and foundation crews.
Land & brush clearing
Overgrown lots, fence lines and wooded parcels are cleared and prepared for building, pasture, a view or simply usable space. Apex removes brush, small trees and stumps and leaves the ground ready for the next step.

Lot clearing
Preparing raw land for construction.
Brush & undergrowth
Reclaiming overgrown yards and acreage.
Stump removal
Digging out stumps so the ground can be graded and used.
Debris handling
Hauling or piling material as the project requires.
Drainage & French drains
Standing water damages foundations, driveways and lawns. Apex finds where water is coming from and where it needs to go, then fixes it with regrading, French drains, swales, or trenching and underground drainage pipe.

French drains
Gravel and perforated pipe to collect and move water.
Underground piping
Trenching and pipe for downspouts and runoff.
Regrading
Re-shaping the ground so water flows away.
Utility trenching
Clean trenches for drainage and utility lines.
Gravel driveways & parking areas
A good gravel driveway starts underneath. Apex prepares and grades the base, installs and spreads stone, and shapes the surface so it drains and holds up, for driveways, turnarounds, equipment yards and commercial parking areas.

New driveways
Base prep, stone and grading.
Parking areas
Residential pads and commercial lots.
Gravel installation
Delivery, spreading and leveling.
Repairs & extensions
Fixing ruts, washouts and widening.
Featured project: pool removal & fill-in
Completed project An old in-ground pool had become a liability. Apex broke out the deck and pool shell, backfilled and compacted the hole, graded the yard with our Bobcat E40 and turned it back into usable lawn.

How much does land clearing cost near Lake Norman?
It depends on lot size, how dense the brush and trees are, slope, access and what happens to the debris. Apex gives free, written estimates after seeing the property or reviewing photos.
What is a French drain and do I need one?
A French drain is a gravel-filled trench with perforated pipe that collects groundwater and surface water and carries it away. If water pools near your foundation, driveway or yard after rain, a French drain or regrading is often the fix.
What is a building pad?
A building pad is a level, compacted area of soil prepared to the right elevation for a home, garage, shop or other structure, graded so water drains away from it.
Do you build gravel driveways?
Yes. Apex grades the base, installs and spreads stone, and shapes the surface for drainage, for new driveways, extensions, turnarounds and parking areas.
Can you work on smaller residential jobs?
Yes. Apex's compact equipment suits residential lots and tight access, from a single drainage problem or stump to clearing and grading a full lot.
Do you install septic systems?
Yes. Apex is an NC certified septic installer and installs septic systems for new homes and replacements. Septic work requires county permits, so we'll walk you through the process for your property.
